171 Littleton County Road FIRST

When we decided to build our home, we wanted a peaceful, quiet community that offered privacy but still was close to highway accessibility. We found that here. We purchased the land first, mainly because of the beauty of the landscape. We settled on a builder and an architect who came highly recommended and designed a house to fit its surroundings. A combination of clapboard, stone, and shingles add a certain charm to its overall appeal. With soaring ceilings, a flowing floor plan, and lots of space to entertain, the interior speaks for itself. We designed the house to be practical, functional, and beautiful – and it has been all those things and more!

Favorite Spaces

With its cathedral ceilings, extra-large windows, and stone fireplace, the family room is the heart of the house. It gives you the feeling of being outdoors, with views of the backyard, trees and meadows visible from all angles. The custom stone fireplace gives in an added beauty that invites you in to relax and enjoy.

In the morning, the kitchen is the place to be. With the coffee brewing and the toaster heating, we sit at the island armed with our iPads and catch up on the morning news. We then often gravitate to the screened porch where we listen to the many birds serenading us with their sweet songs.

The theatre/golf simulator room tops our list of favorite spaces. We spend many hours there having movie nights, golf games, popcorn-popping parties and lots of fun. It is a room that brings people together and provides endless entertainment for everyone.

Taking in the outdoors

171 Littleton County Road DeckLand

On over 17 acres, we have plenty of room to enjoy. The property has a peaceful aspect that is hard to duplicate. It could be the many birds singing or the wind rustling through the trees, or the surrounding landscape that lends itself to calm atmosphere.

We love to sit on our back deck surrounded by lovely trees and with unspoiled views of our meadows. We have outdoor Bose speakers that are often tuned to our favorite music channel. Spending time there makes you feel like you are at a very private resort designed just for you. In the cooler weather, we like to sit around the fire pit and roast marshmallows and hot dogs with our grandchildren. We love to golf, so we often take our clubs out to one of the meadows and practice our short games.

About the neighborhood

171 Littleton County Road Orchards

Our neighboring community is peaceful, quiet and has a relaxing atmosphere. We have winding streets dotted with picturesque apple orchards and horse farms that surround us. The trees and flowers are in abundance and the fall foliage is something you would only expect to see in a painting. The town of Harvard has a lot to offer- one of our favorite fall family events is to go apple picking a Westward Orchards, that also offers a hay ride to their pumpkin patch. Afterwards, we purchase a bag or two of their cinnamon donuts, still hot and so yummy. Another perk to living in Harvard is getting fresh white peaches from Carlson Orchards in August – they are the best we have ever tasted. The orchard also has fresh fruits and vegetables all summer long. I think what we might enjoy most, though, is a three mile walk to the Harvard General Store in the morning for a very tasty breakfast sandwich from their kitchen. The Store has been around forever and has a wonderful, local atmosphere rarely seen today.

Why we’re leaving

Although we dearly love our home and community, our personal circumstances have changed with family all moving more to the western states. It made sense for us to do the same.
