Now that spring is here, we can’t help but look forward to warm sunny days on the water. We asked the luxury brokers at LandVest about their favorite coastal spots in New England.
Coastal Rhode Island
The idyllic coastline of Rhode Island is known for its pristine beaches, charming coastal farms, rich cultural history and a strong sense of community. Appropriately nicknamed, “The Ocean State,” Rhode Island has several large bays and inlets, and over 400 miles of coastline. Some of our favorite summer destinations include Block Island, Jamestown, and Little Compton.
Block Island
Just 12 miles off the Rhode Island coast, Block Island is well-known for its miles of public sandy beaches, clear waters, and dramatic bluffs. There’s an abundant amount of conservation areas and over 360 freshwater ponds. The Nature Conservancy has designated Block Island as one of the “12 last great places in the Western Hemisphere.” We couldn’t agree more!

Jamestown
Jamestown is a popular summer community known for its quaint downtown, rolling farmlands, grand summer estates, and world-class sailing that takes advantage of the predictable summertime winds on Narragansett Bay. The coastline also benefits from steep granite headlands with dramatic coastal views, and great water depths make it excellent for large-boat sailing along the shoreline.

Little Compton
Little Compton retains an idyllic landscape of rolling farmland, stone walls, river and ocean frontage with marshes and sandy barrier beaches. A vibrant locavore food culture, great boating, and proximity to culture and restaurants in Providence and Newport make Little Compton a premier vacation spot in the summer.
Where to eat: The Barn Restaurant: a renovated barn (naturally), serves up a delicious breakfast every day of the week.
