Down East Selects Best Place to Live in Maine!

For those looking for all things Maine, the go-to magazine is Down East. Since 1954, “the goal of Down East has always been to hold a mirror up to Maine — its storied past and lively present — and to celebrate its flinty, independent character and unhurried way of life.”

The folks at Down East recently had an online tournament bracket seeded with 16 of their favorite towns, selected by their editors. Thousands of readers voted in four elimination rounds and selected on a winner-take-all outstanding Maine hometown. No surprise, the idyllic Maine mountain town of Rangeley came out on top. Congratulations Rangeley!

Height of Land

Traveling up Route 17 heading into Rangeley, the Height of Land provides the most breathtaking views of Mooselookmeguntic Lake. Photographers and artists love to visit this awe-inspiring view. In the fall, the foliage is amazing.

Whether at Rangeley, Cupsuptic, Mooselookmeguntic or Kennebago Lake, this special part of Maine is by far deserving of “Best Place to Live in Maine.” With the White Mountains to the west, Saddleback Mountain to the east, and a paradise for the most discriminating fisherman, you will keep coming back… or never leave! We have a few special properties in the Rangeley Lake area coming to the market this spring along with other listings currently available. Please call John Scribner to see if he can find the right one for you.

By the way, the other towns selected by Down East were Chebeague Island, Cornish, Damariscotta, Belfast, Bethel, Lubec, and Cape Elizabeth. Maine has amazing communities throughout the state that fit all types of wants and needs. For more information on finding your favorite Maine town, LandVest is here to help.
