Ask the Seller: 137 Smith Neck Road, South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Part One
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in one of LandVest’s South Coast properties? We invite our owners to tell us a bit about their experience, what they love about their homes and their history.
In part one of this blog, we learn how this coastal South Dartmouth home became a primary residence and vacation home in one!
Meadows Shore encapsulates the magic of a quiet, picturesque haven from the hustle of daily life while still being accessible to essential amenities. It is the perfect location for sailing, kayaking, and swimming on/in Buzzards Bay from May-October, running and cycling year-round, and enjoying peaceful walks through the snow in the winter. It is also located in the epicenter of the budding “Farm Coast” with access to hyper-local produce and fantastic restaurants.
How did you come about owning this property, and when?
We bought the property after searching for two years. We wanted a place near Padanaram Village but also sufficiently outside the Village so our kids could enjoy the wonderful local natural environment and beach. My husband found the property and recognized its natural beauty, views and beach. We immediately bought it and have loved living here. It has been a great place to build and grow our family!
Was this used as a vacation home or a primary home?
We use this as our main home now. It replaced a primary house and a weekend/summer home on the Cape. We found this provided the best of everything with none of the bridge and Cape traffic.
Chris Hall is the architect who worked with us to design a home that would fit our lifestyle: one with a central living and eating area, to bring up our children in, and to host many visiting family and friends. We love to cook and frequently entertain. We enjoy hosting dinner parties – ranging from an intimate group of 6-8 people to large parties with 50-100 guests. Frequently we host visitors for the weekend or a few days.
This home has far exceeded our expectations. We have had family, friends, and business colleagues from all over the world stay and break bread with us. They all marvel at what a special location this is and how fortunate we are to live here!
