On the cover of this month’s North Shore Real Producers is one of LandVest’s own. The magazine features Lanse Robb as a “Deal Maker With A Purpose” and explores how Lanse’s approach to deal-making has changed over his 30-year career.
From the changing ways of the industry (goodbye cold-calling!) to what he most enjoys about the deals he works on, the feature covers every facet of Lanse’s career. Below, we’ve selected a few highlights.
On his approach to deals
“Focus on getting the deal done and if you can’t get the deal done, live for the next deal. Live for a better fight.”
On what keeps him interested
“There are still deals out there that are big enough and complicated enough that you’re not just selling a house. A lot of our deals are really complex; we sell pieces like the main house at one point, then additional land later on, and gift some of this to a trust…So it’s a multi-generational job.”
On the Crane Estate, one of his favorite projects
”We worked with the family for over two decades. Finally, the family said we’ve got to sell it, and by that time, there were 15 or 20 people that were going to benefit from the sale of the property. So we designed a disposition plan for the family and gave them options.
On retirement
“I don’t even know what that word is.”
Exactly 30 years ago, Lanse visited a LandVest office looking for an opportunity…and was turned away. Returning two years later with more experience, he didn’t take no for an answer. His perseverance paid off. Lanse’s deals have resulted in an unprecedented $819 million in residential real estate sales and he’s consistently named the top broker on the North Shore.
