Woodbine GA, June 29, 2018 — LandVest announces the sale of WestRock’s 10,300± acre Cabin Bluff Plantation to The Nature Conservancy and the State of Georgia.
WestRock Company, represented by LandVest, Inc. recently sold its coastal sporting plantation near Brunswick, GA to The Nature Conservancy, in a joint effort with the State of Georgia.
Considered by many as the oldest hunting club in the America, Cabin Bluff lies along the intracoastal waterway adjacent to the Cumberland Island National Seashore and represents one of the largest undeveloped properties on the Georgia coast. It has miles of water frontage thousands of acres of maritime and pine forests and is home to a significant population of Gopher Tortoises.
Dating back to the early 1800s, Cabin Bluff had been a premiere destination for some of the world’s most iconic and distinguished sportsmen. Accessible by land, sea, and air, Cabin Bluff was also a highly desirable target for residential and commercial development. “For decades, management of Cabin Bluff has focused on stewardship and sustainability,” said Mark Lewis, senior vice president of WestRock’s land and development business. “We are pleased that The Nature Conservancy, an organization known for its commitment to protecting land for future generations, will now own this one-of-a-kind property.”
LandVest has also had a long relationship with Cabin Bluff working with its array of corporate owners over the course of the last decade. “We are proud to have played a role in conserving this incredible ecology, and it’s such a beautiful place” says Jonathan Burt of LandVest. “This type of project really showcases LandVest’s unique expertise to bring complex conservation deals to life. We have worked with TNC on numerous deals across the country and know them to be extremely capable at accomplishing big things. Cabin Bluff is another example of that. We look forward to working with them on more projects in the future.”
