The Ideal Family Home
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in one of LandVest’s properties? We invite our owners to tell us a bit about their experience, what they love about their homes and what makes their property special. The owner of 75 Goodnow Road shares her story and what she loves about this beautiful privately sited Sudbury property.
How did you come about owning 75 Goodnow Road?
75 Goodnow is the wonderful result of eighteen months of planning, design, decision making, and custom building – a home built large enough for sharing and entertaining, yet warm and family-centric at its core.
In your opinion, what makes this a special property?
This is a home for a family to really live in, a place to take joy in, for playing, relaxing, gathering, or even retreating. Its natural flow and spacious areas invite gathering. The heart of the home, the kitchen/dining/family room area, is large enough for several people to be cooking and/or convening simultaneously, yet it doesn’t feel cavernous.
The library/study is set away from the main part of the house which makes it a private and pleasant place to work from home. (Sit by the gas fireplace or on the private verandah overlooking the perennial garden for added inspiration.)
There are also plenty of spaces for family members to enjoy privacy. The master suite offers a calming and private oasis with special features like the two-sided fireplace, his and her closets, a private sitting room, a dressing room and a soaking tub among its amenities. Also, each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom.
Do you have a favorite room in the house?
As a family, we’ve probably logged the most amount of time in the lower level area. This is the indoor fun space. With a game room, home theater, home gym, and bar area, it’s just a great spot for hanging out or hosting parties. The lower level also leads to one of two backyard patios. Added bonuses include a wine cellar, sauna, and steam shower.
Are there other special features?
The outside is all about peacefulness and privacy. Whether playing in the large yard, dining, or relaxing on one of the several patios, enjoying the 3-season space, or sitting by the fire pit, it’s fun to enjoy the scenery which changes with each New England season. From just about every vantage point on the property, there are wonderful views. And since Goodnow Road is so quiet, you can often witness beautiful scenes like the incredible blue heron who visits the pond across the way or the striking red tailed hawk with his impressive wingspan as he glides by.
What makes Sudbury a great town to live in?
Sudbury is a wonderful place to raise a family. It is a rural, yet conveniently located town in Metro West Boston with top rated schools and a warm and welcoming community. We discovered a rich canvas for our family storyboard and we have made beautiful memories and lasting friendships here.
Goodnow Road is a convenient location. It is less than one mile from the new state-of-the-art town police station and the closest fire station. Drive 5 minutes to your local elementary, middle, and high schools, gas stations, cafes, restaurants, shopping, grocery stores (including a new Whole Foods Market – opening summer of 2017), several sports and athletic clubs, conservation trails, and town facilities. A 15-minute ride takes you to Routes 128, 2, or 495, or to the Natick Mall and to one of several golf/country clubs in the immediate area. Living just 30 minutes from Boston has given us the lifestyle and quality of life our family has treasured.
What is the reason you are selling this home?
We’ve enjoyed so many happy times here; but, now that our family is grown, the house is far less active. We look forward to knowing the next owners love it and are filling it with joy.
